Child Dedication Service
What is a child dedication service?
It is a time honored, biblical tradition of recognizing that children, all children, are souls put in our charge to raise in the Image of God and His Son Jesus Christ! It is a time of testimony, a time of thanksgiving and a time of commitment on the part of the parents and the church to raise our children in the wisdom and grace of God our Father!!
Testimony Time
To the Parents: Children are a gift, a charge, a living, breathing, eternal soul to be lead, to be taught, to be cherished. They need guidance and an example of who God is and what He can do for them and in turn what they can do for Him!! So, I ask you now to promise to do the following:
1. Love each other. Support each other, make your marriage the priority in your family, pray together regularly, worship together regularly, study God’s Word regularly and be an example to your children of Godly people!!
Do you promise?
By doing this, you will fulfill the promise of God in:
Proverbs 20:7
7. The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.
2. Teach your children the Bible, read with them, sing with them, teach them how to worship, how to pray, and how to study God’s Word. Teach them about discipline and obedience to you and to God their Heavenly Father. Most importantly teach them about Jesus, about His love and His sacrifice, about His grace and mercy, about His salvation and eternal plan for their lives.
Do you promise?
By doing this, you will be following the command of God in:
Proverbs 22:6
6. Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
Deuteronomy 6:5-7
5. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
6. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
7. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
To the Church: I would ask you to promise - to love this family, to support them, to pray for them, to nurture and teach these children, to help them raise these children by being an example of Godly men and women!! Do you promise?
