The Office of
Bivocatonal/Smaller Church Development assists and encourages bivocational and
smaller membership churches to realize their full potential to be the presence
of Christ in the world through planning, networking and leadership development.
WE CAN DO MORE TOGETHER THAN WE CAN DO ALONE.
GOALS TO STRENGTHEN BIVOCATIONAL AND SMALLER CHURCH MINISTRY IN TEXAS
1. Provide
affirmation, validation and support for ministers and their spouses.
2. Locate and train consultant teams to minister in key areas in Texas.
a. Ideally a team would consist of a pastor, music minister, and youth minister.
b. Facilitate "Listening Sessions" to help teams determine how to best
strengthen their churches.
3. Encourage churches that are struggling financially, to consider becoming a
bivocational church.
4. Encourage our BSMs, Baptist universities and seminaries to discover
bivocational ministry as a valid option for doing ministry.
5. Provide a Network to help connect bivocational ministers to ministry
opportunities.
6. Develop resources and training opportunities for ministers.
7. Plan regional meetings across the state with ministers planning the programs.
8. Continue to sensitize the BGCT to bivocational and smaller church needs
across the state and encourage them to to include these ministers in the
planning and governing structure of the BGCT.
