Psalms 81:10-16 Key verse 16

Background: Dr. Gill states that Ps 81 was a New Year celebration psalm that was used there in the OT. It was remembering God’s Promised Blessings for the God Centered Life. For us today I want to look at this passage in light of The Christ centered or Abiding life.
Read vs. 16 again. Prayer
1.The Spiritual Delights of a Christ Centered abiding life.
We see in the passage the promise to the OT Jew: Honey, wheat, and peace, prosperity. Based upon their obedience to God’s Word. For the Christian today we see these in a NT context.
a. Honey in the text this refers to wild honey that was very prevalent in Palestine. The bee’s there built their hives in rock formations that are found through the land. This is the reason the land was said to flow with milk and honey EX 3:8
b. Physical blessing of Honey
It Brighten the eyes 1Sam. 14:27 Jonathan
Medical Science says Honey promotes healing of sores and wounds. Prevents infections, It a great energy food source.
It is almost a complete source of nutrition. Full of B vitamins and amino acids.
c. Christ Promises to us in the NT are like Honey to our Spiritual Minds MH.
The Rock represents an Archtype of Christ in the OT. Jesus is our rock of Salvation. 1Corth 10:4 Matt7: 24
From Christ flow all physical and spiritual blessings. Jn15: 11 1.Joy be full John 14:26-27 2. Peace 3. Satisfaction
Once we are saved God spares no cost in Blessing you. Rom. 8:32 This is our Honey from the ROCK.
2.Who gives these Blessings?
A. The Father Son and HS
In our passage the IAM says I will
Feed & satisfy you
B. Jesus tell us in John 15
Vs. 5 I am the vine vs. 7 I will give, 14:14 I will
Rom 8:32
Song: Praise God from whom ALL Blessing Flow
3. Who gets these Blessing? We Do
A. In the OT, those who Obeyed God in that Time got the blessing: Ps 81:10, 13
B. Today it us who abide in Christ, The Rock of our Salvation his blessings that are our Honey from the Rock.
Key as then Listen as now: Obey Christ Abide in him. John 15
Hide your life in the Rock Jesus Christ and find rest and peace for your Souls. The Honey is there for the taking will you come to Christ Abide in him and enjoy the sweetness of the Christian Life.
