Power
in the Blood
1.
The power to redeem!
Ephesians
1:4-7
4. For he chose
us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his
sight. In love
5. he
predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in
accordance with his pleasure and will--
6. to the praise
of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
7. In him we
have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance
with the riches of God's grace
2.
The power to justify!
Romans
5:8-9
8. But God
demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ
died for us.
9. Since we
have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from
God's wrath through him!
3.
The power to cleanse!
1
John 1:7
7.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all
sin.
4.
The power to make peace!
Colossians
1:19-22
19. For God was
pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,
20. and through
him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in
heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
21. Once you were
alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of
your evil behavior.
22. But now he
has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy
in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation--
5.
The power to sanctify!
Hebrews
13:12-15
12. And so Jesus
also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his
own blood.
13. Let us, then,
go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.
14. For here we
do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.
15. Through
Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the
fruit of lips that confess his name.
6.
The power to bring near!
Ephesians
2:11-13
11. Therefore,
remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called
"uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the
circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)--
12. remember that
at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel
and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in
the world.
13. But now in
Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through
the blood of Christ.
7.
The power to bring victory!
Revelation
12:10-11
10. Then I heard
a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and
the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our
brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.
11. They
overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
