"THE NATURE OF WOMEN"
(Genesis 2:18-25)
Introduction: Mankind was created with the need for companionship, which can really only be fulfilled by other human persons. We see this in the creation of woman, who was to be the companion to man. While over the centuries mankind has distorted the role of the woman, here God reminds both men and women the true nature of women.
I. Women Are Made To Correspond To Men. (2:18-20)
"I will make him a helper (aid) suitable (correspond to) him."
Women were created as the perfect counterpart to man, above any other of God's creation.
II. Women Are Made Equal to Men. (2:21-23)
A. "bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh"
Although sexually different men and women are of the same species. Rib bone means
"equal".
B. Galatians 3:28
C. Women and men may differ in small ways, but women were created with the same capacity to learn, grow, succeed, fail, think, plan.etc.
III. Women Are Made To Mate With Men. (2:24-25)
A. "they shall became one flesh"
Women are valued for themselves alone. There is no mention here of a child-bearing role.
Men and women were created to be intimate, sexual beings. Women were created to complete
the man in every respect, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Conclusion: Women are unique and wonderful beings. They deserve respect and honor as one of God's greatest creations.
